Racist Magic Cards

Wizards of the Coast announced the removal of seven Magic: The Gathering cards from its official database and banned them from sanctioned play, citing racist themes in their names, artwork, or rules text. The affected cards are Invoke Prejudice, Cleanse, Stone-Throwing Devils, Pradesh Gypsies, Jihad, Imprison, and Crusade. Each card’s image on Gatherer has been replaced with a statement rejecting racism, and Invoke Prejudice was also reassigned a new database ID due to its association with white supremacist symbolism. The decision follows broader discussions about diversity and inclusion within the Magic community and the gaming industry, with Wizards acknowledging that removing these cards is only one step toward addressing longstanding concerns about representation and inclusivity.
